The Future of Decatur Foundation (FDF) is dedicated to Decatur’s health, vitality, and development, promoting progress and long-term prosperity. Funded in part by a gift from a former Decatur resident, the FDF works to increase charitable giving in the community and provide grants that address both emerging needs and future opportunities.
Many projects in Decatur have been fully or partially funded by the FDF. Recent projects include:

- A food panty run by the Tekamah Herman Decatur Community Council
- A new “Splash Pad” at Beck Memorial Park & Campground
- The Decatur Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department‘s new tanker truck
- Tree removal and replacement at Hillcrest Cemetery
- Flowers for Decatur’s main street planters
- Funds for rebuilding the Decatur Museum
- Continued support for seniors and wellness at the Sears Community Center
The FDF works in cooperation with the Nebraska Community Foundation, established to empower communities throughout the state to grow and prosper. Decatur also coordinates with the Burt County Economic Development Corporation, a nonprofit working with prospective and existing businesses to stimulate new jobs and capital investment in the county.
